Yes, surviving long distance relationship is as hard as making money. Why? It is because there are many things that you have to consider. It’s a hard work of two people in the relationship. It will never work if one effort is lacking.
I am one of many people who are in a long distance relationship. At first, I hate the idea of being in a long distance relationship, since there are a lot of things you can’t do together with your partner. But, irony of life, it happened to me. I didn’t expect it, but it happened. My husband and I are thousands of miles away from each other for a year now. I can say that it is a combination of good and bad things, sweet and bittersweet experiences.
For me, LDR is a special relationship which needs lots of hard work, trust, love, patience, communication and more. But, don’t get me wrong, any form of relationships need all of this. But why did I say special? It’s because of the distance. It made the trial, problem and happiness extra hard. It’s the presence of your partner that is lacking, though he/she is always there for you “virtually” he/she can’t do anything physically. One of those times for me is when I’m down, and I really wanted was just his kiss or warm embrace, which makes it more difficult to bear at times. I can still remember how hurt I felt when I saw him entered the airport. I didn’t want to let go because I know it will take a lot of time when I see him again. But, sacrifices have to made for our future. I’m just thankful that Internet was created to lessen the loneliness that LDR couple feel. Our love flourished more, thank you!
Surviving long distance relationship is a hard work. It takes two strong hearts, dedication and lots of patience. I am not an expert regarding this kind of relationship, and I tend to learn more not just LDR, but also the married life.I’m looking forward to that day were I can be with my husband and make our own family together. Right now, this what we aim for and hopefully everything will be according to plan. How about you guys, what’s your take about relationships? I’d like to hear and learn from you, too!

You are absolutely correct! We are I guess you could say happy about the coming and going. We have been under each other for 5 years. So, when I careers started to move things around. We automatically knew that days off would be so worth it and the drives to be with the other half are beyond worth it! 😊😊

I know many couples in a LDR. It is not easy, but if it is for a limited period of time – it works! Be patient.

I am also in a long distance relationship. I can relate to this so much! We are in different states. The first 6 months or so of our relationship was in person until he moved. Last time I saw him was over a year ago and before that was about 3 years ago. We are not married. But we want to someday.

Well, now my husband and I are in a long distance separation or perhaps divorce. We used to be in a LDR. We met through LDR and it was okay for us. We would survive my one year of schooling abroad. We sonehow liked the idea we would see each other again and, pick up from where we left. But the challenge or problems began when there was another young girl. I was happy he wasn’t alone, somehow. But when he started lying about when or where he was, or when he would take one or two days without responding, then it became an issue. Well, once he admitted he had lied that he was alone and that he had hurt me, his wife, and the other girl, his new 22 year old catch. He told me he felt bad he lied to me that he wasn’t with her. Well, there goes our LDR. My point is it is difficult and special, as you say. It requires much more effort and calmness, and understanding that hopefully love between you two would prevail no matter what.

I’m sorry to hear that. You’re right, it’s a special kind of relationship wherein both of you have to work hard to make it work. But, I know there is someone better for you. 😊

It’s easier for a couple who already have rings in their fingers. Sadly, LDRs usually fail 90% of the time if they are just in a ” committed” relationship. I’m kind of cynical about this, but I’ve seen too much of devastation when coupls are apart, even if they are already married.

I feel you. There’s chances that it happen, too. There are people who overcame it as well, but as for me, as long as communications are open and both are loyal, it can also work. 😊

You have been blessed with a good guy. But don’t let the situation stay too long. Even the most faithful husband can go astray when faced with easy temptation and natural urges.

I totally get where you’re coming from. My boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship, but I have noticed we are stronger than ever. Don’t let the statistics get to you. Every relationship should be understood on it’s own. I am still in a long distance relationship and feel our relationship has only gotten stronger. You can do it! Thanks Judy for creating a venue to express these ideas too!
